Referring a young carer

Young carers can be referred by any professional and/or a parent/guardian. After initial referral, we arrange to meet with parents/guardian and the young carer for a friendly assessment which enables us to allocate the appropriate tier level of support for the young carer and their family.

Working with other agencies

Telford and Wrekin Young Carers Service support children and young people throughout the five clusters of the borough, working closely with the Integrated Childrens Service teams, our support workers representing young carers and their families in TAC and Core Group meetings. With a "whole family approach" service ethos, team members liaise closely with Adult Services to ensure that appropriate support is in place for all family members in order to reduce inappropriate levels of caring for children and young people.
