Volunteering is a simple concept - it's about giving up your time to do something useful for free - something you usually have a strong interest in, or for a cause you believe in. Being a volunteer for Telford and Wrekin Young Carers is an incredibly worthwhile way to spend some of your spare time. All our young carers benefit hugely from the time and energy our volunteers give and their support is crucial to what we provide. Volunteer FAQs

How much time do I need to give?

It's entirely up to you - even if you work full-time and have a busy lifestyle there will still be opportunities for you to help - at our weekly and monthly youth clubs and on one-off trips for example.

How long will I have to commit for?

Again, it's your decision - if your circumstances change then you are under no obligation to stay, although of course we would hope to have you on board for as long as possible!

Will I get my expenses paid?

Yes, we will pay any costs you may have, such as transport or meal expenses, although often these will all be provided for you.

What sort of things will I do for Young Carers Service

Be part of the Young Carers team: helping prepare and joining in with activities at youth clubs - arts, crafts, games, etc., talking and listening to young carers and being supportive, going on trips to theme parks, cinema, adventure parks, seaside, sports events, workshops . . . and lots more. Become a Mentor or Befriender to a young carer or their 'cared for' - we will give you continuous training and support for this role. Drive a minibus for youth club and other activities (we'll pay for you to get your MIDAS training) Help in the office with answering the telephone and the 101 other admin jobs that always need doing!
